Since 2017, guests attending Disney’s California Adventure have been able to experience a special celebration and meet and greet with the star of Pixar’s Coco, Miguel!
Along with the meet and greet, Plaza de la Familia takes over Paradise Gardens at Disney California Adventure during the Fall. A celebration of the bonds families hold and the spirits of Dia de Los Muertos.
The feature show of the celebration is A Musical Celebration of Coco where a beautiful handcrafted Miguel puppet makes an appearance, the same puppet guests have been meeting since the first appearance!
Now, the Miguel puppet may be no more. With the new Magic Happens parade debuting February 28th at the Disneyland Resort, we here at The DisInsider have obtained images of Miguel as a “walk-around” character.
As seen below the mariachi Miguel is for the Magic Happens parade
Below is concept art for the Coco float where we can see Miguel in this same outfit.
Below is the second image which features Miguel in his classic hoodie and this character will meet guests at DCA and very likely Epcot.
If Miguel debuts in Epcot, he should arrive in the Mexico Pavilion in early March!
Aside from the meet and greet, guests are still speculating whether or not a Coco ride will replace the “Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros” in the Mexico Pavilion
Jack at DSNY Newscast (who also contributed to this article) dissects evidence that also points to a Coco attraction testing within Walt Disney Imagineering. There is also a rumored Coco attraction for Disney California Adventure in the future.
Many Coco and Epcot fans agree that although The Three Caballeros is a beloved group of characters, the Mexican pavilion needs something fresh and educational, and Coco would be the perfect fit. What do you think?
