Disney+ Has Begun Testing a “GroupWatch” Feature

Last week reports surfaced that Disney+ is considering a new group watch feature that would allow viewers to watch some of their favorite Disney movies and series with their friends.

Now, a new report from The Verge states that Disney+ has begun testing the feature that is being called “GroupWatch.” The feature would allow up to six people to join the watch party. The site has learned the feature has already begun testing in Canada for some subscribers. As long as all viewers have paid Disney+ subscribers they will have access to the feature.

The new feature would also include some sort of interactive chat and require a PIN as a security precaution. It would also only be accessible from a computer, laptop, or mobile device. Also, if a film goes to Premier Access, like the live-action adaptation of Mulan, all members of the GroupWatch must purchase the film, so no splitting the cost.

It’s also important to note that anything can change between now and the feature’s official roll-out – whenever it may be – so until then we’ll all just have to keep watch!
