A brand new live-action Goosebumps series is in the works at Disney+, Variety has learned. The series was originally reported in the works back in April 2020 and the studio has now given the series a 10-episode order.
The series follows a group of five high schoolers who unleash supernatural forces upon their town and must all work together – thanks to and in spite of their friendships, rivalries, and pasts with each other – in order to save it, learning much about their own parents’ teenage secrets in the process.

Nick Stoller and Rob Letterman, the director behind 2015’s Goosebumps movie starring Jack Black, will serve as writers and executive producers on the show, with Stoller executive producing via Stoller Global Solutions. Letterman will also return to direct the first episode. Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty of Original Film, Conor Welch of Stoller Global Solutions, Iole Lucchese, and Caitlin Friedman of Scholastic Entertainment are also executive producing. Sony Pictures Television Studios will produce. Original Film and Stoller Global Solutions are currently under TV overall deals with Sony.
Goosebumps from author R. L. Stine, published by Scholastic Publishing. The stories follow child characters, who find themselves in scary situations, usually involving monsters and other supernatural elements. From 1992 to 1997, sixty-two books were published under the Goosebumps umbrella title. The series has sold over 400 million books worldwide in thirty-two languages, becoming the second-best-selling book series in history, after J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter. Individual books in the series have been listed in several bestseller lists, including the New York Times Best Seller list for children.
This becomes the second live-action Goosebumps series for Disney+. In October 2021, the streamer debuted the 8-episode series Just Beyond, from director Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man). All 8 episodes can be streamed now.
