We all know how obsessed Peter Quill/Star Lord is with Kevin Bacon, but what if the stars aligned and he finally got to meet him – or a character who looked suspiciously like him?
According to a new rumor that’s surfaced, that may very well be the case.
A few days ago a Reddit user by the name of u/CassandraOracle revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was filming near where she lived and that she got a glimpse at one of the action sequences.
From what she could allegedly see, there were Beverly Hills police cars were being used AND actor Kevin Bacon somehow seemed to be involved. It’s not clear exactly what capacity Bacon appears – whether it’s a cameo or not – but the user was sure that they saw the Footloose actor.
Now, because both Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special are filming back to back, if true, there’s also a chance Bacon could very well be shooting scenes for the latter. Just last week, Gunn was quoted as saying that Holiday Special is the “greatest thing [he’s] ever done.” Could this be why?
Being that this is an unverified rumor, as always, we urge you all to take this with a grain of salt. Considering how writer/director James Gunn has yet to call out or disprove the rumor on social media – which he is known for – adds even more fuel to the speculative fire.
If true, an appearance of any kind by Kevin Bacon would be a great way to end the franchise, especially because of Star Lord’s undying admiration. And if the appearance isn’t a cameo and Gunn has found a way to bring the onboard as a villain, that’d make way for quite a hilarious and interesting twist.
Although the Holiday Special won’t air until later this year, fans will get to see the Guardians of the Galaxy sooner in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder. Their roles are believed to be small, but important.
The last we saw the Guardians, at the end of Avengers: Endgame, Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Drax (Dave Bautista), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Rocket (Cooper), and Groot (Vin Diesel) were joined by Thor (Chris Hemsworth) to search for Gamora (Zoe Saldana). She disappeared following the climactic battle with Thanos and his army.
Because the Holiday Special will take place before the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it is unknown if Zoe Saldana’s Gamora will make an appearance.
Announced by Kevin Feige, president, Marvel Studios, and chief creative officer, Marvel, at The Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day in December 2020, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to write and direct the special, which will be a Disney+ exclusive.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
