Coming Soon: Percy, Grover & Annabeth

Rick Riordan says to stay tuned for news about Season One of Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, is gorgeous. The surrounding area is stunning. And, quite frankly, getting to stay there during the summer must be a treat.

Enter Rick Riordan, his wife Becky, and the cast and crew of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

And while he came down from Whistler Mountain to give “Greetings from Laistrygonia,” the essential pieces of the update concerned three names: Percy, Grover, and Annabeth – i.e., the three leads for Season One of Disney’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

From the Centaur’s Mouth

Now, I think we’re living in blessed times when it comes to news from the horse’s, um, er, centaur’s mouth, but until Disney locks down our favorite author, he gives us nuggets about what he is seeing and doing.

For example, Rick tells us we’re pretty close to learning about the actors who will inhabit the iconic roles.

“Casting — yes, I know that’s what you want to hear about,” said Mr. Riordan in his latest post. “I think we are very close to having our primary trio of Percy, Grover and Annabeth, but I can’t announce anything until we have all the necessary approvals, deals are closed, etc.

“However long you think this process should take, it takes even longer than that,” added the author turned executive producer. “Be patient!

“As soon as we can say anything, we will, but asking for news more often will not make the news magically appear more quickly,” he wrote.

Timetable, please?

But, Rick. Throw us a bone, baby. What’s coming when?

“Just a guess, I would say we are at least a couple more weeks away from being able to announce anything,” he explained. “And when we do announce the three main leads, we will probably announce them all at once (but that is JUST my personal guess).”

And there’s nothing wrong with a guess from the guy who wrote the book – even if all he’s doing today is playing tic-tac-toe at his new desk.

I urge you to read the entire blog. You’ll get a real taste of what Hollywood away from Hollywood looks and feels like; you’ll also see a creator who seems poised to help put something special into the world (again).
