The Suicide Squad breakout star, Daniela Melchior is set to reteam with director James Gunn on Marvel Studios’ highly-anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Deadline has learned.
There has been a lot of chatter on which characters could appear in the third entry of the franchise, but Gunn says the actress will not be playing Moondragon. As of now, it is unknown who Daniela Melchior is playing so let the speculation begin. Gunn recently teased the involvement of an “unannounced actor” in the film. That person isn’t Melchior. Neither is it Keanu Reeves, per more online speculation.
Last we saw the Guardians was at the end of Avengers: Endgame where Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Drax (Dave Bautista), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Rocket (Cooper), and Groot (Vin Diesel) were joined by Thor (Chris Hemsworth) as they search for Gamora (Zoe Saldana), who disappeared following the final battle with Thanos and his army. Will Poulter (The Revenant) also joins the cast as Adam Warlock, with Peacemaker star Chukwudi Iwuji in an unknown role, rumored to be the High Evolutionary.
Production wrapped on the project last month. The Guardians will also appear this summer in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder, as well as the Disney+ holiday adventure Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special. The special is expected to premiere on Disney+ in December of 2022, but no official release date for the actual project has been set. Lastly the newest Guardians attraction Cosmic Rewind has debuted at Epcot with rave reviews.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
