Disney is in development on a sequel to their 2021 101 Dalmatians prequel, Cruella. While Emma Stone is set to return as the iconic villain, a new rumor has surfaced hinting at a major casting appearance.
According to the popular gossip outlet DeuxMoi, they shared one of their ‘blind items’, which leaves out names and specifics for followers to work out. The post read, “This A+ singer who has a minor appearance in Cruella (very tiny, you probably haven’t even noticed) might have a larger part in the sequel… not sure if she’ll play a villain or the lead’s supporting character, but sources told me her name has been making quite a bit of noise.”
It should be noted that Deuxmoi takes and shares gossip and tips from users. The outlet isn’t always sharing accurate information but that is not to say they have not gotten anything right, such as their April blind item on Jude Law joining the Star Wars universe, which would end up being confirmed last week at Star Wars Celebration. The information they share is 50/50 from their visitors in terms of accuracy. So take this information with a grain of salt.
Who could this A+ singer joining the Cruella sequel be?
While I can’t say I saw an actual cameo appearance in from any “A+ singer” in Cruella, what I will say is there appears to be a singer that makes a brief appearance in an easter egg style appearance. In a quick scene in Cruella, the Disney villain is staring at her bedroom wall and you can see a familiar face, Taylor Swift. While there is no confirmation from Disney that the easter egg appearance is Swift, the screen grab below appears to be the singer. Emma Stone and Taylor Swift are also good friends, meeting each other in 2008.

2021’s Cruella grossed over $222 million theatrically worldwide, and approximately $21 million on Premiere Access. The upcoming Cruella sequel, which will also bring back director Craig Gillespie and writer Tony McNamara, will be the sixth film in the 101 Dalmatians franchise, following the original animated film and its sequel, the two Glenn Close films, and Cruella.
In an interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Emma Stone and Emma Thompson discussed possible ideas for a sequel, which would feature a story akin to The Godfather: Part II and bring back Close an older version of the character. However, this was just speculation and we have yet to hear any official ideas for Cruella 2.
