Hot off her breakout performance in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, breakout actress Maria Bakalova has booked her next big project. According to Deadline, Bakalova is set to appear in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Bakalova’s involvement comes just one week after it was revealed that The Suicide Squad breakout Daniela Melchior had joined the cast. Both actress roles are being kept under wraps at this time. The trade also says the “unannounced actor” in the film, as teased by director James Gunn is not Bakalova or Melchior.
Last we saw the Guardians was at the end of Avengers: Endgame where Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Drax (Dave Bautista), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Rocket (Cooper), and Groot (Vin Diesel) were joined by Thor (Chris Hemsworth) as they search for Gamora (Zoe Saldana), who disappeared following the final battle with Thanos and his army. Will Poulter (The Revenant) also joins the cast as Adam Warlock, with Peacemaker star Chukwudi Iwuji in an unknown role, rumored to be the High Evolutionary.
Production wrapped on the project last month. The Guardians will also appear this summer in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder, as well as the Disney+ holiday adventure Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special. The special is expected to premiere on Disney+ in December of 2022, but no official release date for the actual project has been set. Lastly the newest Guardians attraction Cosmic Rewind has debuted at Epcot with rave reviews.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
