Tim Allen is coming back as Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause series for Disney+. The project, tentatively titled The Clauses, started filming earlier this year. Now, thanks to Allen, we have an update.
Tim Allen took to his official Twitter to confirm that filming on the series has officially wrapped, with a Disney+ launch slated for this Fall. He even shared a fun little image of a window in Calvin’s North Pole office. “Finished shooting at the pole. The magic begins this fall. Don’t tell anyone I shared this photo looking out Santa’s window.”
In The Clauses, Scott Calvin is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizes that he can’t be Santa forever. He’s starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole.
Also set to appear in the holiday-themed series is Kal Penn, Elizabeth Mitchell, Elizabeth Allen-Dick, Austin Kane, Rupali Redd, and Devin Bright. Still, no word on David Krumholtz’s Bernard and that upsets me.
Jason Winer will direct the series. Award-winning Jack Burditt (30 Rock, Modern Family, Frasier, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) is the executive producer and showrunner, and Kevin Hench (Last Man Standing), Richard Baker, and Rick Messina will also serve as executive producers alongside Tim Allen.
