From Superstore to Outer Space?

According to Deadline, Superstore and Crazy Rich Asians star Nico Santos has been cast in James Gunn’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

This marks the first major project for Santos since Superstore ended in 2020.

He joins returning cast members Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Elizabeth Debicki, and Sylvester Stallone. He isn’t the only newcomer though. He joins previously announced actors Will Poulter (The Maze Runner), Chukwudi Iwuji (Peacemaker), Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad), and Maria Bakalova (Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm).

While Will Poulter is confirmed to be playing Adam Warlock and Chukwudi Iwuji is believed to be playing the High Evolutionary, like Melchior and Bakalova it’s unclear who Santos will be playing.

The film just wrapped shooting a few weeks ago, and while it’s still over a year away from a theatrical release, fans will fortunately get the chance to see the Guardians much sooner in Thor: Love and Thunder. They’ll also appear in a tailor made Holiday Special this Christmas on Disney+.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
