Rick Riordan Introduces New Cast for Disney+ Percy Jackson Series

Percy Jackson

Lightning Thief author and executive producer Rick Riordan announced three new cast members…

First, for whatever reason, Rick Riordan likes to post news updates when I am driving my kids to or from school. Secondly, here’s me saying “Thank you” to Rick and his crew for being so transparent in their communications methodology.

Today, we got some great new news. Three actors are joining the cast.

Rick Speaks

Joining the troop is:

  • Olivea Morton – “Nancy Bobofit”
  • Dior Goodjohn – “Clarisse LaRue”
  • Charlie Bushnell – “Luke Castellan”

On, Rick wrote:

Born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, thirteen year-old Olivea discovered her passion for acting while performing at her local theater. She began to pursue roles in film and television, first appearing in commercials… Her hobbies include archery, biking, skating and swimming. That last skill is especially important, since she may be taking an unexpected swim as Nancy Bobofit, Percy’s nemesis at Yancy Academy!

Dior is a multitalented actor, singer, songwriter and dancer. At just 15 years old, she is no stranger to acting… As Clarisse LaRue, child of Ares, she is a strong-willed and competitive fighter who doesn’t let much stand in the way of her winning. Intensely loyal to her close friends, she’s also quite intimidating to newcomers — look out, Percy!

A Los Angeles native, Charlie Bushnell had an epiphany in 2017 when his best friend, the family dog Patito, passed away. While binging “Stranger Things” to distract from the loss, he announced to his family “I can do that!” […this] quickly led to auditions and his first role, a series regular as Bobby Cañero-Reed in the groundbreaking Disney+ original series “Diary of a Future President.” As Luke Castellan, head counselor of the Hermes cabin, Luke will soon become one of the most influential people in Percy’s life.

More News Soon?

Finally, Riordan added to the news, saying, “All three of these young actors are doing an incredible job on set… More news to come.”

I am looking forward to it, Rick. Thankfully my kids are out of school for the summer.
