Sam Delich, hot off his latest Netflix, Spiderhead, is joining ole on Disney+’s comedy-drama series Last Days of the Space Age.
According to Deadline, Delich’s role is being kept under wraps but is said to be a major recurring role, in which he is expected to play the villain. The project is a tentpole of Disney+’s Australia and New Zealand 2022/23 slate and was unveiled in Sydney last month.
Last Days of the Space Age is an eight-part dramedy series set in 1979 Western Australia, when Perth was at the center of the world’s headlines. A power strike threatens to plunge the region into darkness, while the city hosts the iconic Miss Universe pageant and the US space station, Skylab, crashes just beyond the city’s suburbs. Against this backdrop of international cultural and political shifts, three families in a tight-knit coastal community find their marriages, friendships, and futures put to the test.
Delich joins a cast that also includes Jesse Spencer (House), Radha Mitchell (Man on Fire, Olympus Has Fallen), Deborah Mailman (Total Control) and Linh-Dan Pham (Or De Lui). Bharat Nalluri (The Man Who Invented Christmas) directs.
The project comes from creator David Chidlow (L’histoire de nos petites morts). Writers on the project include Alice Addison (The Hunter), Alan Nguyen (Firebird), Jeremy Nguyen (Hungry Ghosts), Dot West (The Heights), and Chidlow.
