Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio Set For Disney+ ‘Echo’ Series

Well, the rumors are true, Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will reunite for the first time since Daredevil ended on Netflix in 2018.

Cox returns as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil, while D’Onofrio return as Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin for the upcoming Hawkeye spin-off series, Echo. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Echo will include a plotline in which Daredevil, whose alter ego is blind attorney Matt Murdoch, is searching out a former ally. Cox made his debut very briefly as Peter Parker’s lawyer in Spider-Man: No Way Home, While D’Onofrio, was the big bad in Hawkeye.

Alaqua Cox (Hawkeye) stars as the unforgiving Maya Lopez, who made her MCU debut in 2021 in Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye as a deaf gang leader who was determined to make Ronin aka Clint Barton pay for his own vengeful deeds.

Streaming exclusively on Disney+ in 2023, the origin story of Echo revisits Maya Lopez, whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward. Echo also stars Chaske Spencer (Wild Indian, The English), Tantoo Cardinal (Killers of the Flower MoonStumptown), Devery Jacobs (FX’s Reservation Dogs, American Gods), and Cody Lightning (HeyViktor!Four Sheets to the Wind), with Graham Greene (1883, Goliath) and Zahn McClarnon (Dark Winds, FX’s Reservation Dogs).

Episodes of the series are directed by Sydney Freeland (Navajo) and Catriona McKenzie (Gunaikurnai). Executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Stephen Broussard, Richie Palmer, Marion Dayre, and Jason Gavin (Blackfeet). Co-executive producers are Amy Rardin, Sydney Freeland, Christina King (Seminole), and Jennifer Booth.

For those who may be unfamiliar with the character, Maya Lopez, aka Echo, is a deaf Native American (like Alaqua Cox who plays her) character who can exactly replicate the movements of another person in battle. She first appeared alongside Daredevil in a comic strip from 1999. As of now, there is no confirmed Disney+ premiere date for Echo, but production on the series is already underway.
