Marvel Comics: Wakanda and the History of the Black Panthers

Explore the Black Panther, their homeland, and some important characters in Marvel Comics’ new limited series WAKANDA, coming October.

Earlier this week, Marvel Comics announced a new limited series that will launch this October. Set for release just ahead of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it could be the perfect tie-in. The series will look at different characters from the Black Panther series, such as Shuri and Killmonger. After the recent events in John Ridley’s Black Panther, T’Challa is no longer welcome in his homeland. But what does this mean for the Wakandans?

Well, WAKANDA aims to answer that question, and show that just because Black Panther isn’t there, doesn’t mean Wakanda is without a hero. A group of acclaimed writers and artists will come together to create this limited series, which should prove to be an incredible addition to the story of Wakanda and Black Panther.

WAKANDA #1 kicks off with an in-depth tale about T’challa’s younger sister, genius, and former Black Panther Shuri. What her story will be we’re not sure, but knowing Shuri, it will be something incredible.

And for those of you who want to know more about the Black Panther, have no fear! Each issue will also include a backup story called ‘History of the Black Panthers’ by writer Evan Narcisse and artist Natasha Bustos. This will serve as a definitive history of everyone who has ever taken up the mantle of Black Panther.

So far, this is all we know about the upcoming release. But be sure to check back at The DisInsider for more information as it becomes available!
