It is sad news to report that Maria Salud Ramirez Caballero has passed away.
For those who may not be familiar with the name, you will most certainly recognize her face. She was the inspiration for Mama Coco in Disney and Pixar’s Coco.
While Disney has never outright confirmed that Caballero was the inspiration for the character, her family did come forward shortly after the film’s release with claims that employees from Pixar visited their area, took numerous photos of Cabaellero, and even lived in the area for a while.
