Last week, you might recall a report we put out speculating that production on the forthcoming Star Wars prequel series The Acolyte had already began production.
Today, we received official confirmation from none other than Lucasfilm! But that’s not all.
In a tweet posted by the official Star Wars account Monday morning, in addition to confirming production was underway, the full cast and the show’s first behind-the-scenes still was revealed too.
On top of the previously reported cast members Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-Jae, Manny Jacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Charlie Barnett, the post also confirmed that Dafne Keen (Logan), Dean-Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones, 1917), and Carrie-Anne Moss (Jessica Jones) had joined the cast too. Keen’s involvement had been speculated since last week as well.
It’s still unclear who will be playing who though – but we’re sure those announcements will come in due time.
Lesley Headland (Russian Doll) will executive produce, direct, and has written the series. The 8-episode series will focus on the emergence of dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic Era. The series will be female-centric and will take place in a new part of the Star Wars timeline. Rayne Roberts is co-developing the series with Headland.
