It’s been 25 years since Brandy took on the role of Cinderella in Disney’s first beloved live-action adaptation. We’re happy to announce the actress will reportedly be returning to the role for the upcoming Descendants sequel tentatively titled The Pocketwatch.
She’s joined by Rita Ora, who will be playing the Alice in Wonderland antagonist the Queen of Hearts.
The two join the only returning cast member from the franchise, China Anne McClain.
She’s expected to lead the film alongside newcomers Kylie Cantrall (Raven’s Home) and Dara Reneé (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series). Cantrall and Reneé will play the daughters of Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts, and Chloe, the daughter of Cinderella.
Written by Dan Frey and Russell Sommer (Magic: The Gathering), the new story finds polar opposites Red and Chloe crossing paths at a momentous celebration in Auradon when unexpected chaos breaks out. In order to prevent an impending coup, they must join forces to travel back in time, via a magical pocket watch created by the Mad Hatter’s son, to stop an event that would lead to grave consequences.
The film is expected to be a Disney+ exclusive.
