Beyoncé, Sir Elton John, And Sir Tim Rice To Collaborate On A Song For THE LION KING Remake!
In an interview with The Sun Sir Elton John confirmed that he’s planning on collaborating with Beyoncé and Sir Tim Rice on a song for Disney Studios upcoming Lion King remake. Sir Elton John and Sir Tim Rice worked together on the original 1994 animated classic.
Sir Elton John said…
“There’s going to be four of our songs in the film, from the original: ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight?’, ‘Hakuna Matata’, ‘I Just Can’t Wait To Be King’ and ‘Circle of Life’. And then there will be an end, closing song, and we’ve been speaking to Beyoncé’s people and hopefully Tim and I and her can cook up something.”
So it sounds like we also get two brand new songs in the film as well. It seems as though Disney wants to stay true to the animated film.
The Lion King has managed to assemble an impressive cast, and based on the rampant success of Beauty and the Beast, it’s likely that The Lion King will be an even bigger hit for Disney. Jon Favreau definitely revealed his Disney-directing chops with The Jungle Book, and it’s likely that every single one of those skills will be put to the test with an even more ambitious film.
The Lion King is directed by Jon Favreau, and stars Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Alfre Woodard as Sarabi, John Oliver as Zazu, John Kani as Rafiki, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, Eric Andre as Azizi, Florence Kasumba as Shenzi, Keegan-Michael Key as Kamari, JD McCrary as Young Simba and Shahadi Wright Joseph as Young Nala.
The Lion King hits theaters on July 19, 2019.
