This year, Disney’s CinemaCon panel was filled with plenty of surprises for attendees. One of those surprises came in the form of Kevin Feige appearing on stage to discuss Marvel Studios’ upcoming slate.
At the tail end of his presentation, Feige showed the audience 9 whole minutes from the highly anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine!
No worries. Because if you weren’t in attendance, there were plenty of people who were who have described exactly what the footage entailed.
According to multiple reports from attendees, the footage began by showing Ryan Reynolds’s anti-hero adjusting to normal life. So normal, that he apparently works as a car salesman.
While attending the birthday party of Blind Al (Leslie Uggams), the two joke about doing cocaine. “Do you want to nbuild a snowman?” she asks, understandably setting the bar for how meta the film will be.
Just as the team begins to have a good time, a team of armed men arrives at Wade’s apartment. It’s the TVA. Before long, Deadpool is taken to Matthew Macfadyen’s character, Mr. Paradox, who wants to bring Wade out of retirement. The final scene in the clip shows Deadpool meeting up with Wolverine, and making fun of his outfit. Also appearing in the film in a brief cameo is Thor. And as Wilson teases himself, the film will be riddled with special guests.

Before the footage was shown, Marvel Studios Boss Kevin Feige marveled over how fun it is to make an R-Rated movie with the F-word. He also teased a Deadpool-themed popcorn bucket that’s sole purpose is to go as viral as the Dune 2 popcorn bucket.
Other than Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, other Marvel (and mostly Deadpool) veterans returning for the threequel, as previously reported, include Karan Soni, Leslie Uggams, Morena Baccarin, and Stefan Kapicic, who respectively portray Deadpool’s cab driver sidekick Dopinder, his roommate Blind Al, his fiancée Vanessa — who in the sequel was killed and then revived — and the metallic mutant Colossus. Comedian Rob Delaney is also expected to return in some capacity.
Newcomers to the franchise will include Hugh Jackman (who reprises his role as Wolverine), The Crown‘s Emma Corrin, and Succession‘s Matthew Macfadyen.
Currently, it’s unclear if the film will follow the continuity – or at least have the main character remember the continuity – from the first two films, or if this will be a soft reboot of sorts. Considering that these characters are appearing in the film, there may be a chance this isn’t a soft reboot after all. There are rumors that Mobius and the TVA will appear to go after Deadpool for the time traveling he did at the end of Deadpool 2.
Deadpool & Wolverine is set to be directed by Shawn Levy (Free Guy, The Adam Project). Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick return to the franchise to write. Kevin Feige will produce.
The film is currently slated to be the only Marvel film hitting theaters next year on July 26, 2024.
