It’s happening.
After years of speculation that Giancarlo Esposito would join Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, the actor is finally on board.
According to Collider, the actor revealed that he had been cast in an upcoming Marvel Project at CCXP, which is currently underway.
However, he teased that the character would not be someone fans would expect.
Additionally he said that an official announcement would come “sooner rather than later,” and that it’s “better than you can imagine.”

Previously, the actor has been a popular fancast for Professor X and Magneto in whatever X-Men project Marvel has in development. While he might be a good pick for either, his talent knows no bounds. So we’re excited to see whoever Feige and co have tapped him to play. We just hope it’s someone that’s going to stick around for the foreseeable future.
With the tease of an imminent announcement, we’ll likely get news at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con or D23.
