What a wild week for us, Entertainment Tonight actually asked Austin Butler a question, which came from our mailbag last week. Well, this week brings us more fun questions from Pixar, The Princess Diaries, and The Lion King.
When do you think the Pixar Win or Lose series will come on Disney+?
Well, we know it is coming later this year. My best guess is sometime in November/December. We should get more clarity in August during Disney’s D23 Ultimate Fan Event.
Is Frozen Live-Action Remake still happening?
Back during the early stages of the pandemic, we did hear that Disney was in early development on a live-action adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy-tale The Snow Queen, which is obviously Frozen. Disney’s live-action division is in a reorganizing period, will we get a Frozen remake? Of course, the IP is too lucrative. When will we get? At this stage, who knows?
Who is playing Wolverine patch? And who else is at that poker table?
You know, to be honest, I don’t know who is at that poker table. I’d imagine that is where we finally get to see Channing Tatum’s Gambit. There was a rumor going around that Taron Egerton is in the film as a Wolverine variant, whether that is accurate or not I do not know.
Any updates on Princess Diaries 3? Julie Andrews possibly returning?
It is in the early stages of development. Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews have not signed any deals to return at this time but Disney plans to bring them back, likely in a bit of reduced roles as the new movie will focus on a new female lead, which at one point Disney wanted Zendaya for the role but I hear that won’t pan out.
Will ‘Mufasa’ lead to a possible remake of ‘Simba’s Pride’ since Kiara is involved?
If Mufasa makes a billion like 2019’s The Lion King, I am sure we will get more from that world but a remake of the direct-to-VHS/DVD sequel Simba’s Pride? I highly doubt it, the creative team has already said they do not have plans to explore that.
Is the live action Robin Hood with the animals still happening?
Unless something has changed in the last few months, last I heard is that the project has been scrapped. Could it be revisit? Yes, of course. That said, I do not believe Disney is looking to make that remake a priority over projects like Hercules.
Why did Harrison Ford refused to have a mustache (real or fake)for Ross?
All I know is that the lack of mustache is explained very quickly in Captain America: Brave New World. Who needs a mustache when we are finally getting the Red Hulk?
Is development still happening on a Jungle Cruise sequel?
Disney has plans to develop it still. That said, Dwayne Johnson is pretty busy as he is set to begin filming the live-action Moana later this year and then the new Fast & Furious movie early next year. Not to mention, he is also attached to a few more projects that are further in development. So it may be a while before we get a Jungle Cruise 2.
What do you personally want to see out of DisneylandForward?
Bringing the Tron Lightcycle Run to the Disneyland Resort is a must for me. I 100% expect Disney to officially announce it is coming during the Parks panel at D23. I also want them to take advantage of successful IP ala Planet of the Apes.
Does Disney still plan or still have plans to introduce a new deaf princess into theaters? Will Atlantis: The Lost Empire still have a live-action version and are they bringing in Kida’s African culture? Sorry for the mistakes in english, i am deaf and i am literate in brazilian sign language…
Please do not apologize for your mistakes in English, we all make mistakes. Actresses like Lauren Ridlloff and Alaqua Cox have begun opening those doors for the deaf community to be seen/featured in film/TV. I’d imagine Disney could possibly explore a deaf princess/lead in the future. Also, despite rumors, Disney has never put a live-action Atlantis remake into any stage of development.
Pete Doctor said today Pixar will never do live action remakes but that “it might bite me in the butt”. Would Disney still do remakes in the future even without Pixar involved?
No, I have always been told and have said this on The DisInsider Show for years that Disney and Pixar have no interest in developing live-action remakes of their Pixar library.
Since the title for Episode 10 is supposedly titled ‘A New Beginning’, what do you think the official title for the Mandalorian and Grogu movie will be?
Again, A New Beginning is just a rumor title at this moment, but I believe that ends up being the title. New Jedi Order is the working title. The Mandalorian and Grogu is the title official title of The Mandalorian movie, as confirmed by Lucasfilm, so I wouldn’t expect a surprise title change there.
That’s all for this week’s mailbag, stay tuned as every Thursday a new DisInsider Mailbag will drop.
