This week brought us trailers for Agatha All Along and Captain America: Brave New World. We also got the schedule for next month’s D23 Ultimate Fan Event. So, let’s end this week with a bang.
Is there any hope of a continuation of Tron: Uprising with the new movie coming out soon? Also thanks for all your work, we met briefly at last D23 🙂
Disney is banking on Tron: Ares to be a massive success because they have ideas lined up for movies. One person I spoke with who was on set says this will be huge and blow audiences away. As for Tron: Uprising, I do not believe there are plans to revisit that. Also, feel free to say hello again if you’re at D23 this year… whoever you are, haha.
If a Finding Nemo sequel is made, will Ellen DeGeneres return?
I do not believe so, I was told Pixar was floating the ideas around for a third Finding Nemo film, that doesn’t necessarily mean “Finding Nemo 3“. The ocean is a big place and I think we are done with Dory character. That said, I thought we were done with the Toy Story characters after Toy Story 3 and now look, a fifth movie in 2026.
If u have a guess on what film deserves the cinematography oscar do you think it should be Snow White or Wicked?
Well, Wicked is 2024 and Snow White is 2025, if either were to get a nomination they would be competing in two completely different years. That said, we have seen Wicked (via trailers) and while I believe it looks good, the Academy will likely look over it for films like Dune: Part 2 and Gladiator II.
I know it’s not Disney-related but if live-action How to Train Your Dragon is a success, do you see DreamWorks doing more remakes of their films to rival Disney?
Yes, despite what some people may think of the remakes, they have been financially successful for Disney and competing studios will of course want to try their hand at that success. Are there any DreamWorks remakes in the works after Dragon? No, but they are going to be keeping their eyes open.
With Toy Story 5, live-action Moana and now Shrek 5 being released in the same month, which one do you see possibly moving release dates?
I could see Shrek 5 and Moana moving. Toy Story 5 may stick to their date as it has been successful for them in the past. That said, it”ll be a while until we get some clarity on that.
Will Marvel announce the new Kang actor at Comic-Con?
Please take this with a massive grain of salt, but I was talking to a friend, who is way more knowledgeable on the Marvel side of things, and he had said he heard Marvel has indeed cast a new actor as Kang. If true, I do not know how you would announce that at Comic-Con, as Kang Dynasty is not the name of Avengers 5 anymore.
Now that Dwayne Johnson and his production company are working with Disney, any projects in the works?
Jungle Cruise 2 is for sure in the works and he starts filming the live-action Moana in August. While I won’t say this is for sure in the works because I’ve never received a straight answer from anyone, I heard Johnson has his sights on another Disney attraction-turned-movie. Whether that’s Pirates, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, or It’s A Small World (all of which are in the works) is unknown to me.
Do you think we’ll see snow white or the Evil Queen in the snow white teaser or will it just be one of those quick flashy ones with mostly landscape shots?
I am getting a lot of Snow White questions, this is what I will say, we are getting a poster and teaser at D23 next month and it will definitely show off the Snow White, the Evil Queen, and possibly one (if not all) the Dwarfs.
Why did Marvel release 2 trailers in the same week (Agatha and Captain America) when they have D23 AND Sdcc right around the corner? It seems like they are going to have no trailers to release or show to the people at the expos?
Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters SDCC weekend and they want eyes and butts in theaters, so it is not uncommon to release a blockbuster trailer to put in front of their blockbuster film. Marvel still has tons of footage to show off including Wonder Man, Thunderbolts, Daredevil: Born Again, Ironheart, and possibly new-look art at Fantastic Four.
That’s all for this week’s mailbag, stay tuned as every Thursday a new DisInsider Mailbag will drop.
