Disney’s Bob The Musical has been in the works for a decade, and it has been a few years since we had news on the project. Well, today, we finally have a massive update.
According to Deadline, Rudy Mancuso (Musica)has signed on to direct the project.
Bob The Musical tells the story of a regular guy who, after a blow to the head, suddenly can hear the inner songs of everyone’s heart as his reality is instantly turned into a musical, much to his dismay.
Bob The Musical has been in and out of development at the studio since 2004. Directors involved ranged from Mark Waters (Mean Girls) and Adam Shankman (Hairspray) to Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street) to Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist). At one point, Tom Cruise (Mission Impossible) and Channing Tatum circled the project to star.
Mancuso is known for making comedy skits with his friends on YouTube and Vine as well as for being behind many voices in the YouTube channel Awkward Puppets. He made his filmmaking debut in 2024 with Música, which he also starred alongside Camila Mendes.
