It’s been a hot minute since we’ve gotten any update on Toy Story 5.
While we expect a more substantive trailer to hit theaters in the next month, ahead of Zootopia 2, a new rumor suggests that a couple of major actors have joined the project in equally major roles.
According to the Twitter account @Minions_Fanboy, Greta Lee (TRON: Ares) and Craig Robinson (The Office) are set to appear in the highly-anticipated Pixar sequel.
In a post published Friday, the account revealed that Lee had been cast as the film’s antagonist “Lilypad”, while Robinson would be playing a character named “Atlas.” You can check it out below!
We know from a previous chat with Pixar head Peter Docter, Lilypad will some sort of tablet that is taking up much of Bonnie’s attention.
As previously revealed at D23, the film will be about “toy vs tech.” It will see all of the classic toys reunite to try and deal with a new common enemy, technology. Without giving too much away, Docter said that, despite being separated from the group in the last film, Woody would be still be back for this film’s adventure, and that the toys will find a way to bring him back into Bonnie’s room to help deal with this new crisis. The whole idea behind this film is how toys can really act as a child’s parent, impacting how they interact and who they become.
While we haven’t reported on anything from this particular source before, some of their previous leaks have been proven to be true. Because neither Pixar or any other major trade have reported this info though, we still urge you to take this news with a grain of salt though!
What do you think of these latest additions to the cast? Sound off below!
Toy Story 5 will be directed by Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo) and hits theaters next June!
