Disneyland is preparing its biggest update to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge since the land opened in 2019, effectively “unlocking” new eras on Batuu’s timeline.

Key details:

  • Starting April 29, the immersive land will broaden to include characters and storylines from across the Star Wars saga, notably bringing in elements from the Galactic Civil War and the New Republic eras.
  • The 14-acre outpost will portray multiple chapters in Batuu’s history, using a rotating narrative so guests can encounter beloved figures from the original trilogy.
  • Darth Vader will patrol the settlement with Imperial Stormtroopers, while Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo will make appearances around the Millennium Falcon and among the spires.
  • John Williams’ scores from the first six films will be added to the soundscape, reshaping the land’s musical identity.
  • The Black Spire shops will also be expanded.

When Galaxy’s Edge debuted, it was anchored to a single moment in the Star Wars timeline, the Age of the Resistance, so characters who had died earlier in the saga were deliberately excluded. The 2026 update lets Black Spire Outpost “roll back” through time, layering in stories from the Galactic Civil War and New Republic while preserving the Resistance-era elements already in place.

The refresh emphasizes the wider Skywalker saga. Disneyland says Darth Vader’s hunt for Luke will be a throughline, with the Sith Lord searching for signs of the Force throughout the outpost.

The official relaunch is April 29, but Disneyland says guests may begin noticing changes in the weeks leading up to the debut. Nighttime offerings will grow too, with a new projection show called “Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga,” which will use Batuu’s spires to spotlight the Skywalker family story.
