Move over Pooh, Mickey, and Peter Pan, it’s Pinocchio’s turn to rein terror.

The first trailer for Pinocchio: Unstrung, the fifth instalment in The Twisted Childhood Universe, has debuted its first trailer. The new trailer gives our first look at some iconic characters with a frightening twist including Pinocchio, Geppetto, and Jiminy Cricket.

The film follows Geppetto, who introduces his grandson, James, to a magical doll called Pinocchio, who develops a friendship. However, unaware of Pinocchio’s naïve nature, James introduces him to the world, resulting in the doll going on a crusade to eliminate all things bad.

The film stars Richard Brake, Cameron Bell, Jessica Balmer, Jack Art Gray, Peter De Souza-Feighoney, and Freddy Krueger himself as the voice of Jiminy, while Emmy winner Todd Masters oversees the the practical animatronics.

Rhys Frake-Waterfield (Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey) directs.

The Twisted Childhood Universe (TCN) consists of Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey, Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, Bambi: The Reckoning, and now Pinocchio: Unstrung. A third Pooh movie is also in the works leading up to Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, which will bring all the characters together in one movie, a play on the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
