Emily Blunt is in negotiations to star opposite Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in Disney’s Jungle Cruise (based off the classic Disneyland attraction).
Blunt’s character would be a scientist who teams up with Johnson’s riverboat captain on the hunt for a magical cure.
Since the success of the first Pirates Of The Caribbean film, Disney has been trying to get the Jungle Cruise off the ground and in production. At one point Toy Story stars Tom Hanks and Tim Allen were attached to star in the project.
Emily Blunt is no stranger to the Disney Company appearing in Into The Woods, and later this year she can be seen in Disney’s highly anticipated sequel Mary Poppins Returns.
Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows, The Commuter) is set to direct the film, with Flavio Labiano (Non-Stop) as cinematographer, The Jungle Book VFX supervisor will also oversee VFX on Jungle Cruise
Production is set to begin in April.
There is no official release date for Jungle Cruise as of yet.
