What’s Next For Marvel After Phase 4?
The Infinity War saga is finally coming to a close, finishing it off with ‘Avengers 4’. What we have all been thinking, what’s next? Here’s my theory on what’s to come. Disclaimer: This is my personal theory, take it with a pinch of salt.
Here are some things we know forsure. Chris Evans has claimed that this will be his last appearance as Captain America, so who will take up the mantle? That position will fall onto Bucky, who, in the comics, takes the patriotic shield and makes it his own. Now, there is another character in the running; Falcon. Falcon does become Captain America, but only just recently. If they follow the comic book storyline, Bucky is first. Sorry Sam.
Next up, who’s the next big bad? My theory points to Galactus. Reports have suggested that the Disney/Fox merger will close at the start of the year. Why not have Galactus appear? Films have usually lead to a bigger villain in the coming sequels, so Galactus will be a great add to this franchise; however, Fantastic Four is still not confirmed to have their solo film anytime soon. Well, we have to have the merger finished. In my opinion, there must be talks on how to introduce the X-Men and Fantastic Four into the storyline. With most of the Avengers leaving the franchise after ‘Avengers 4’, there is still hope in a new team.
New characters will have to take on the mantle of Avengers leaders. Captain Marvel will take over Iron-Man’s spot, Bucky will take over as Captain America and Spider-Man, who is a teenager, still has a lot more stories to tell. I haven’t forgotten the other heroes that still have movies to come. Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, and Black Widow will all have solo films after the events of ‘Avengers 4’. So it only makes sense to continue the Avengers with these characters.
Lastly, there’s X-Men. I do believe they should recast for X-Men. Marvel has shown they are excellent with their casting choices, not to mention, the adult X-Men is what we really care about. Deadpool on the other hand, will probably stay separate to the Marvel Cinematic Universe; due to the maintaining of the “R” rating. Bob Iger has said he still plans on keeping Deadpool the way he is.
Despit the way the franchise continues, you best believe we’re in for some amazing events that are shortly coming.
’Avengers 4’ his theaters May 3, 2019.
