Disney Moves Amy Adams Led ‘The Woman In The Window’ Off Its 2019 Release

Disney is moving the Amy Adams led The Woman In The Window the final movie from Fox 2000 off its October 2019 release date.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio will retool the recently acquired film via reshoots. The trade reports that audiences in a recent test screening “were confused.”

The film based on on the hit book from producer Scott Rudin has proven to be a Challenge for director Joe Wright. Wright plans to shoot five days of pickup shots next month when Adams schedule clears up. The move takes Adams out of the Oscar conversation and could be primed for a 2020 run.

We’re dealing with a complex novel,” Fox 2000 president Elizabeth Gabler said in a statement. “We tested the movie really early for that very reason. We wanted to make it better, and we’ve had Disney’s full support in doing that.”

Based on thriller novel of the same name from author A.J. Finn, The Woman in the Window tells the story of Dr. Anna Fox, a recluse in New York City who drinks her days away alone in her apartment, watching classic films and her neighbors. When the Russells move into the house across the way, Anna sees the ideal family and spies on them, only to witness a shocking event that changes her life.

The film also stars Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour), Anthony Mackie (Avengers: Endgame), Julianne Moore (Still Alice), Brian Tyree Henry (Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse), and Wyatt Russell (22 Jump Street).
