Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ To Get A Comic Launch From Dark Horse

Just a little over a week since the casting of Halle Bailey as Ariel in Disney’s live-remake of The Little Mermaid, fans of the original animated film will be pleased to hear that Dark Horse will be releasing a comic retelling based on the film released in 1989.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cecil Castellucci will write the three issue series which will launch this October. The comic explores the story of Ariel losing her voice but finding true love in a new way, with writer Cecil Castellucci and artist Zulema Scotto Lavina looking at events through the eyes of Ariel herself.

Dark Horse is continuing their new partnership after other Disney/comic releases such as Disney Frozen: The Hero Within, Disney/Pixar The Incredibles 2: Secret Identitiesand Disney Zootopia: School Days. Castellucci is no stranger to working with Dark Horse on Disney projects, being the writer of Disney Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which launched last month.

Disney The Little Mermaid will launch October 16, 2019.
