In what’s becoming a record year at the box office for the Walt Disney Company, it has been announced that Toy Story 4 has crossed $1 billion at the global box office.
This marks the fifth film from the house of mouse to reach the milestone this year along with Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame, as well as Disney’s reimaginings Aladdin and The Lion King.
The film also becomes only the fourth film for Pixar Animation Studios to hit the milestone with Toy Story 3, Finding Dory, and Incredibles 2, all hitting the mark over the last 9 years.
According to a studio release, the film’s $1,001.7 billion current box office total makes it the eighth-highest-grossing animated movie of all time.
Woody (voice of Tom Hanks) has always been confident about his place in the world, and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. So when Bonnie’s beloved new craft-project-turned-toy, Forky (voice of Tony Hale), declares himself as “trash” and not a toy, Woody takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy. But when Bonnie takes the whole gang on her family’s road trip excursion, Woody ends up on an unexpected detour that includes a reunion with his long-lost friend Bo Peep (voice of Annie Potts). After years of being on her own, Bo’s adventurous spirit and life on the road belie her delicate porcelain exterior. As Woody and Bo realize they’re worlds apart when it comes to life as a toy, they soon come to find that’s the least of their worries.
The film is directed by Josh Cooley (Riley’s First Date). Rounding out the cast is Tim Allen, Keegan-Michael Key, Maddie McGraw, Jordan Peele, Jay Hernandez, Lori Alan, Joan Cusack, Bonnie Hunt, Kristen Schaal, Emily Davis, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Blake Clark, June Squibb, Carl Weathers, Lila Sage, Don Rickles, Jeff Garlin, Maliah Bargas-Good, Jack McGraw, Juliana Hansen, and Estelle Harris.
