Hamilton star Daveed Diggs is in talks to join Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid according to Variety.
The film which is set to star Halle Bailey as Ariel, and directed by Rob Marshall (Mary Poppins Returns) is currently looking to round out its cast as the film continues to search for its Prince Eric.
Diggs has become a name the Walt Disney Company loves to work with, as he is also set to voice a character in Pixar’s Soul, out next year. He also stars in the ABC hit series Black-ish, and has worked on the soundtrack for Disney’s animated hit Zootopia.

Alan Menken (Aladdin) and Lin-Manuel Miranda (Moana) will be remastering the music from the original film, while also adding brand new songs, which would include one a new solo for Prince Eric… that’s what we hear that is.
The Little Mermaid will be directed by Rob Marshall and production is expected to begin in January in the Caribbean.
