Last month it was reported that producer Akiva Goldsman’s Weed Road Pictures is teaming up with FilmNation to produce the YA movie The Map of Tiny Perfect Things, based on Lev Grossman’s short story collected in the anthology Summer Days and Summer Nights: Twelve Love Stories.
Now, we are hearing Disney has acquired the project, what we don’t know is if this project would be released theatrically or through their upcoming streaming service Disney+.
Here is a brief synopsis of the project:
Two teens who live the same day repeatedly, enabling them to create the titular map. A magical realist romance, the character of Mark takes advantage of reliving the same day over and over by reading his way through a library. When he meets Margaret, who’s also aware of the time loop, they set out to find every amazing event — no matter how big or small — that occurred on that day.
Sierra Burgess Is a Loser director Ian Samuels will helm the project from writer Lev Grossman (The Magicians). Greg Lessans (My Best Friends Girl), Aaron Ryder (Arrival), and Ashley Fox (Promising Young Woman) will produce alongside Goldsman.
Production on the project is expected to kick off in February in Alabama, with casting underway.
