Gugu Mbatha-Raw Joins Disney+’s ‘Loki’ Series

Variety has reported that Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beauty and the Beast) will join Marvel’s newest series, Loki. Her character is being kept under wraps for now.

Marvel and Disney have declined to comment.

However, industry insider Daniel Richtman, revealed who he believes Mbatha-Raw is playing.

Loki is about time travel. TVA is invloved. Looks like they will capture him at first but then will use him to help them get the villain(?) Gugu’s character is consider a co-lead she’s in 6 episodes, she’s “A leader” and they were looking at men for the role as well. Meaning she’s likely playing the leader of TVA, who’s a man in the comics – Mr. Alternity. Owen Wilson’s character is set to appear in 4 episodes. Likely playing Justice Peace.

A couple weeks ago, Comicbook.com confirmed that Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers) had recently joined the cast as well. His role is also being kept under wraps by the studio as well.

The series will be apart of the first wave of Marvel shows coming to Disney+. During the Super Bowl, we got a brief teaser or tent shows, which you can find here. It will appear next to The Falcon and the Winter Solider and Wandavision which have all been confirmed for this year; however, Loki will premiere early 2021.

Loki is set to debut on Disney+ in the Spring of 2021, with production already underway.

Disney+’s Loki will see the return of Tom Hiddleston as Loki and will feature Sophia Di Martino (Flowers; Yesterday) in an undisclosed role. Kate Herron (Daybreak) will direct the series with Michael Waldron (Rick & Morty) writing the series.
