Empire has just put out their newest issue of their magazine. Tucked in those pages is Ray Winstone (The Departed; Beowulf)’s role in the upcoming Black Widow film. Winstone will portray Dreykov, The Leader of the Red Room, the Soviet society that trained Natasha and other assassins.
If you take a look back at 2012’s The Avengers, he is mentioned for the first time. As Loki is talking to Natasha, he starts revealing things from her past and included in that monologue is Dreykov. “Can you wipe out that much red? Dreykov’s daughter, São Paulo, the hospital fire… Barton told me everything.”

There isn’t any word on Dreykov’s daughter; however, Natasha will meet back up with her old Soviet partners to take down Taskmaster. It is likely during the film, that the situation with his daughter will arise again and Dreykov could play a much bigger part than we think.
No word yet on a re-release date for Black Widow.
In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller “Black Widow,” Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.
Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Natasha/Black Widow, Florence Pugh stars as Yelena, David Harbour portrays Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz is Melina. Directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige.
