News broke today that Michelle MacLaren (Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead) is being looked at for Captain Marvel 2. Daniel Richtman first reported the news on his patreon, but for right now, there’s no solid confirmation.

Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, who co-wrote and directed the first film are not returning for the sequel, but will stay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as they are likely directing the Disney+  Ms. Marvel series. The studio is on the hunt for a female director to helm the pic for a 2022 release.

Brie Larson will be reprising her role as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel and the film is expected July 8, 2022.
