A few weeks ago, it was announced that the Disneyland Resort would begin a phased-in reopening starting in July just in time for Disneylands 65th Birthday. Disneyland and Disneys California Adventure will open on July 17th, and Downtown Disney will open on July 9th. With the opening of Downtown Disney, it will come with some new strict safety guidelines that fall in line with protection from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Visiting Disney will come with a new warning: “By visiting the Disneyland Resort, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.” Downtown Disney will follow pretty carefully with the guidelines that were set in place when Disney Springs opened in May. They will open with specific health and safety guidelines. Mandatory facemasks, Temperature screens, smaller capacity, and proper spacing will be part of the new plans. Temperature screens will take place before bag check and security.
Disney’s new Guest Experience Team will be available throughout Downtown Disney to explain the new health and safety protocols, answer questions, and encourage visitors to follow the rules. The restaurants will also use single-use or digital menus. The World of Disney will open as well on July 9th. Salt and Straw have stated they will also open on the 9th. We are still waiting to hear about the status of other restaurants and shops in the outdoor mall. Downtown Disney will run under limited hours in the beginning. They will open form 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. Will you be there when Downtown Disney reopens?
