Promotional Image For Disney’s ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’ Has Debuted

A promotional image for the 59th Disney Animation Studios feature film Raya and the Last Dragon has debuted online giving our first good look at the title character.

Raya and the Last Dragon will be an epic fantasy adventure with southeast Asian themes, set in a realm called Lumandra, described as “a reimagined earth inhabited by an ancient civilization”. Five clans form the land of the dragon, and Raya is determined to find the last dragon.

Cassie Steele (Degrassi: The Next Generation) will voice Raya, A lone warrior on a quest to find the last dragon. Described to be fearless and passionate, with a winning charm. Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians) will voice Sisu, A water dragon who can transform into a human. The films is directed by Paul Briggs and Dean Wellins, from a script by Kiel Murray (Cars 3) and produced by Osnat Shurer (Moana).

The film which is said not to be a musical will be Walt Disney Animation Studios’ first original animated film since 2016’s Moana.

Raya and the Last Dragon was originally scheduled to be released on November 25, 2020, but due to the 2019–2020 coronavirus pandemic, it was pushed back to March 12, 2021.
