‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Becomes Third Highest Grossing Movie of All Time Domestically Passing ‘Avatar’

Spider-Man: No Way Home has officially passed Avatar to become the third highest-grossing film at the box office domestically, according to The Hollywood Reporter via Sony. The Tom Holland-led finished the day with a domestic total of $761 million. Avatar earned $760.5 million, which also includes its rereleases.

Avatar still remains the highest-grossing movie worldwide at $2.84 billion. Avengers: Endgame is currently sitting at number two at $2.79 billion. Spider-Man: No Way Home isn’t too far off at $1.8 billion. The film still has a shot at passing Avengers: Infinity War ($2.048B) and The Force Awakens ($2.069) with a release in China, which presently ranks as the world’s biggest box office market. Sadly, the film has yet to get a release date in the territory.

Our friendly neighborhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.

Directed by Watts and starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Benedict Cumberbatch, Marisa Tomei, Alfred Molina, Willem Dafoe, Jamie Foxx, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield. Spider-Man: No Way Home is the first Hollywood tentpole to do pre-pandemic-level business. Additional Spider-Man movies are currently in development.
