Halle Bailey “Got Emotional” While Recording ADR For ‘The Little Mermaid’

Disney’s reimagining of The Little Mermaid is probably the most anticipated remake since 2017’s Beauty and the Beast. Many of us are trying to find out more information regarding the 2023 movie, and recently Halle Bailey has shared some details on it.

This week, during an interview at the BET Awards’ red carpet, Halle Bailey was asked about the film and here’s what she said:

“Well, I’ve seen little clips in ADR. I cried the other day when I was on ADR, because I don’t understand how this is happening, this is me and it’s very overwhelming and I get really emotional while talking about it”.

A few days ago, Bailey shared a video on social media of her recording ADR for the movie. You can find the video below:

For those who don’t know what ADR is, it is Automated dialogue replacement, and is the process of re-recording an actor’s dialogue in a quiet environment, during post-production. During an ADR session, the performer watches a looped scene of themselves in order to dub new dialogue over the original production track.

The film is less than a year away, and last week we got to know some details on the story, thanks to the synopsis of three books based on the remake that are being released next year. In one of these books, we got to confirm of our scoops that Ariel’s sisters are making an appearance in the movie.

Starring Halle Bailey as Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton with Noma Dumezweni, Awkwafina, Jacob Tremblay and Daveed Diggs, Disney’s highly anticipated live-action The Little Mermaid premieres on May 26, 2023. We could potentially get our First Look at Disney’s D23 on September 9.

Stay tuned as we continue to bring you the latest news on the movie.
