It’s time to go to infinity and beyond! Disney and Pixar’s Lightyear is now streaming in IMAX Enhanced exclusively on Disney+.
This is the first Disney and Pixar animated film on Disney+ with scenes in IMAX’s Expanded Aspect Ratio, creating a unique, immersive experience for kids and families at home with no special equipment required. With IMAX Enhanced, the film comes with IMAX’s exclusive Expanded Aspect Ratio, which delivers audiences up to 26% more picture for major sequences of the film, meaning more of the action is visible on screen, just as director Angus MacLane had envisioned.
“We are thrilled that Disney and Pixar’s ‘Lightyear’ is the first IMAX Enhanced animated film launching on Disney+,” said Angus MacLane, who helmed the film. “Leveraging IMAX’s technology throughout the filmmaking process allowed us to create an elevated viewing experience for ‘Lightyear’ fans in theaters, at home, and beyond”
The film features the voices of Chris Evans as accomplished Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear, Uzo Aduba as his commander and best friend Alisha Hawthorne, and Peter Sohn as Sox. Keke Palmer, Taika Waititi, and Dale Soules lend their voices to the Junior Zap Patrol’s Izzy Hawthorne, Mo Morrison, and Darby Steel, respectively, and James Brolin can be heard as the enigmatic Zurg.
The voice cast also includes Mary McDonald-Lewis as onboard computer I.V.A.N., Isiah Whitlock Jr. as Commander Burnside, Efren Ramirez as Airman Diaz, and Keira Hairston as Young Izzy. Directed by Angus MacLane (co-director Finding Dory), produced by Galyn Susman (Toy Story That Time Forgot), and featuring a score by award-winning composer Michael Giacchino (The Batman, Up).
