Just announced at D23‘s Pixar panel: Inside Out 2 is happening!
Unfortunately, not everyone from the first film will be returning. For starters, Pete Doctor, who helmed the original film will instead act as this film’s producer. The sequel will mark the directorial debut of animator Kelsey Mann, who has worked on several Pixar films including Onward and Lightyear.
Mindy Kaling and Bill Hader, who played Fear and Disgust in the original film are also not expected to return.
Original writer Meg LeFauve will pen the sequel’s script, while Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, and Lewis Black will return to portray Joy, Sadness, and Anger.
Plot details are currently under wraps, but the film is expected to hit theaters in 2024.
