Charlie Barnett Latest to Join Star Wars Series ‘The Acolyte’

The Acolyte is putting the finishing touches on its cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Charlie Barnett is reteaming with his Russian Doll director Lesley Headland, who is showrunning the Star Wars series.

Barnett joins a growing cast that includes Amandla Stenberg (The Hate You Give), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place). and Lee Jung- Jae (Squid Game). The studio is keeping everyone’s character details under wraps. Sadly, Lucasfilm kept quiet on the project at Disney’s D23 Expo this past weekend.

Headland will executive produce, direct, and has written the series. The 8-episode series will focus on the emergence of dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic Era. The series will be female-centric and will take place in a new part of the Star Wars timeline. Rayne Roberts is co-developing the series with Headland.

The series is expected to begin production in London in late fall.
