Hot off his work on Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, writer Michael Waldron has signed on to write Avengers: Secret Wars.
The news comes just two weeks after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness signed on to write Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, with Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton attached to direct. According to Deadline, Avengers: Secret Wars will have its own director though it’s assumed all parties will be in touch while the films are in development.
The trade also says that Marvel Studios had meetings for the job last month and while a number of writers were met with, many believe Waldron was the top choice for the job based on the trust the studio has in him.
Plot details are being kept under wraps on both Avengers movies. While Secret Wars does not have a director attached there are rumors circulating that Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler is the front runner for the job. However, that has yet to be confirmed.
During Marvel Studios’ SDCC panel back in July, Kevin Feige officially announced that Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will be released on May 2nd, 2025. He then announced that the installment in the Avengers series, Avengers: Secret Wars, will be arriving on November 7th, 2025!
