As Andor continues its strong run on Disney+, Lucasfilm has started production on its newest Star Wars series The Acolyte.
According to Bespin Bulletin, the series is filming at Shinfield Studios, Berkshire. Set photos from the production utilizing the large outdoor set located behind Shinfield Studios have also surfaced. Filming on the series will shoot through May 2023 and is expected to debut on Disney+ sometime in 2024.
The Acolyte is set to star Amandla Stenberg (The Hate You Give), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Lee Jung- Jae (Squid Game), and Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll). The studio is keeping character details under wraps.
Lesley Headland (Russian Doll) will executive produce, direct, and has written the series. The 8-episode series will focus on the emergence of dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic Era. The series will be female-centric and will take place in a new part of the Star Wars timeline. Rayne Roberts is co-developing the series with Headland.
