Star Scribe Beau DeMayo Fired From Marvel Studios

Beau DeMayo was once Marvel’s star scribe. Not only did he contribute to the first season of Moon Knight. He also worked on early drafts of the upcoming Blade revamp. His most important contribution, however, was to the animated sequel series X-Men ’97. Although the show is set to debut on Disney+ next week, the studio has surprisingly cut ties with DeMayo.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, last week, Marvel deactivated DeMayo’s company email. DeMayo’s Instagram account, which had become known for frequent updates on the X-Men series was also deactivated.

No reason for either action has been given. Neither Marvel or a spokesperson for DeMayo have provided comment.

The news came just one day before the show’s Hollywood premiere.

This isn’t the first time in recent history that a prominent figure was released from the studio. Less than a year ago Victoria Alonso was also let go from the company. After threats of legal action on her end, both she and Marvel reached a settlement.

Stay tuned for more information on this story as it becomes available. We’re just as curious to find out what happened with DeMayo and how it might impact the upcoming X-Men series. So far, it seems like he will not be involved with however many future seasons Marvel has planned.

X-Men’ 97 revisits the iconic era of the 1990s as The X-Men, a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future.

The voice cast includes Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, JP Karliak as Morph, Lenore Zann as Rogue, George Buza as Beast, AJ LoCascio as Gambit, Holly Chou as Jubilee, Isaac Robinson-Smith as Bishop, Matthew Waterson as Magneto and Adrian Hough as Nightcrawler.

The series debuts exclusively on Disney+ beginning March 20th!
