The biggest soccer club in England could be making their way to Disney+. Disney is in talks with the premier league club Manchester United on a multi-million dollar deal to create documentaries about the club.

According to The Athletic, The play will spotlight the club’s triumphant era led by the esteemed coach Sir Alex Ferguson, spanning 26 years during which Manchester United secured an impressive 38 trophies. Among these accolades were 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League trophies, and five FA Cups.

Additionally, the agreement would encompass significant interview time with Ferguson, now 82 years old. Manchester United would grant access to club archive footage and insights from club ambassadors like former captain Bryan Robson and iconic goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel. Their contributions would illuminate the secrets behind United’s success under Ferguson. Formal consent from Ferguson and his former players would be required for the project, which is currently in its conceptual phase. United would likely maintain editorial control over the project, as is customary for documentaries involving European football clubs.

While negotiations with Disney+ are ongoing but not finalized, Manchester United is holding out for more favorable terms. The current proposal, in the low seven figures, falls short of Disney’s initial offer from a few years back. United aims to diversify its revenue streams while remaining competitive in the Premier League and adhering to Financial Fair Play regulations. Additionally, the club is undertaking an ambitious stadium project.
