Shawn Levy is in contention to direct Avengers 5 and maybe the studio’s choice to direct the high-profile pic.
According to Deadline, the project is still in its very early stages. Marvel and Levy are currently discussing the film, and the studio provided the latest script to the filmmaker late last week. However, according to insiders other filmmakers are also being considered for the director’s chair.
There is reason for some caution. Back in mid-March, Marvel discreetly offered Levy the directing role, but he declined due to scheduling conflicts. At the time, Levy was juggling various responsibilities for Deadpool & Wolverine, set to release on July 26, and preparing for the final season of Stranger Things. His commitments include directing two episodes and other executive producer duties, extending into the next year.
Initially, this schedule didn’t align with Marvel’s plans. However, insiders now indicate that the studio has delayed the film by several months, creating a new opportunity for Levy.
Marvel’s decision to re-engage with Levy highlights their eagerness to work with him once more, suggesting that the collaboration on Deadpool & Wolverine was successful for both the studio and the filmmaker.
