A new DisInsider Mailbag is finally here. This week we discuss Deadpool & Wolverine cameos, Disney Animation, Pixar, Nightmare Before Christmas, and more.
As we get closer to Deadpool and Wolverine, what cameos do you think are likely to happen and what have no shot of happening?
Ah, yes, the cameos. Well, at this point Marvel Studios and the cast & crew are doing everything they can to keep talks of cameos out of the public eye. The big one, Taylor Swift, is all but in it. Now, whether she is Dazzler, Lady Deadpool, or just playing herself is unclear to me, my guess it is a cameo as herself but who knows. Another name that has been in the news recently is Dafne Keene, she recently said she is not in the film; However, I have been told multiple times she in fact does appear in a very small role. I also heard at one point that Patrick Stewart appears but I can not confirm that. Also, this one is obvious but Channing Tatum is finally getting his crack at Gambit.
Is there any news on a current planned date for the Snow White teaser?
I feel like I have answered this multiple times but no problem. A trailer/teaser is not likely until Disney’s D23 Ultimate Fan Event in August. Could the studio surprise us? Sure, they have done it in the past, but it makes sense for them to wait and show it off during their Studios panel.
What are the odds of a Nightmare Before Christmas live-action movie being green-lit?
ZERO (no pun intended). We have a better chance at a prequel/sequel. That said, director Henry Selick has no interest in either option at this point and neither does producer Tim Burton.
When do you think we will get a first look at the live-action Lilo & Stitch? The movie is in post-production at this time right?
It is in post-production, like the Snow White question above, I think Disney is holding off until D23.
After this week’s Pixar news, Disney Animation and Pixar will make movies like Illumination? That is, without diversity of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability, just to please conservative and white audiences?
Pixar isn’t looking to copy what another studio is doing. Aside from a couple of misfires, Pixar remains a powerhouse animation studio. The studio will always try to remain inclusive, as will Disney Animation Studios (which I have heard is doing a new princess movie set in India). Bringing topics that are political into films is always a touchy subject because whether you are left or right you are bound to upset someone. If a studio wants to be inclusive to a marginalized group they need to stand by that.
Are they any chances for a new live Disney Investor Day like 2020? It was a great way to hype viewers for all the brands.
Disney’s Investor Day 2020 obviously came at a time when people were at home and most of the world was very slowly opening. Now, that the world is back on its feet and D23 is back I wouldn’t expect an investor day of 2020’s magnitude. However, D23 will be live-streamed on Disney+.
Is The Aristocats live-action adaptation still happening and will we potentially hear about it at D23?
It is happening, whether or not we get information at D23 is unknown to me at this time.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure looks great imo but a lot of people have written it off already. What can Disney do to improve and sway people’s interests?
Ultimately, the key to winning over skeptics will be delivering an exceptional ride experience that lives up to Disney’s standards for storytelling, technology, and overall guest satisfaction. There are plenty of POV on YouTube and from the look and sounds the attraction looks just as fun and memorable as Splash Mountain.
Why did production stalled on Hunchback? It seemed Josh Gad and company were all set to go.
That’s all for this week’s mailbag, stay tuned as every Thursday a new DisInsider Mailbag will drop.
