Lucasfilm is in development on a new Star Wars movie with Daisy Ridley returning as Rey Skywalker. Well, there is now a exciting new update.
According to Production List, the title that has been floating around New Jedi Order was simply just a working title. The title being used for the new movie is Star Wars: Episode X – A New Beginning. Filming is set to begin in Septemeber at Pinewood Studios in London.
Back in January, Cosmic Circus originally reported on the title but was told the title was false. However, after asking around, A New Beginning is the correct title being used at this time, that does not mean Lucasfilm can’t change the title, but this is what I am hearing after asking around.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, the new film is expected to be about Rey rebuilding the Jedi Order after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. While Daisy Ridley is already set to return [she recently stated she is only signed for one movie at this time], it is unclear if any other actors/characters from the sequel trilogy are expected to return. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel)is directing from a script by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders).
From Production List:
The production of A New Beginning is set to be a monumental effort, aiming to capture the expansive universe that fans have come to love. Filming is scheduled to begin later this year, with pre-production activities already underway. The production will span multiple locations worldwide, utilizing a mix of real-world settings and advanced studio environments to bring the galaxy far, far away to life. Cutting-edge technology, including the latest in CGI and practical effects, will be employed to maintain the high visual standards of the franchise.
The production of A New Beginning offers a myriad of opportunities for industry professionals across various disciplines. From actors and stunt performers to behind-the-scenes crew such as set designers, special effects artists, and costume designers, there are numerous roles to be filled. Open casting calls will be announced in the coming weeks. Interested actors are encouraged to prepare for a rigorous audition process, given the high-profile nature of the project. Positions for technical and creative crew members will be posted through official industry channels. Previous experience in large-scale film productions will be advantageous.
A New Beginning aims to differentiate itself from previous installments by exploring new themes and storylines within the Star Wars universe. By breaking away from the traditional storytelling patterns and rhyming schemes of the original trilogies, this film will establish its own unique style and atmosphere. This approach not only honors the legacy of George Lucas but also allows the new era of Star Wars to carve out its own identity.
In addition to A New Beginning, another notable development is the working title for an associated project: The Mandalorian and Grogu, referred to internally as ‘Thunder Alley’. While specific details about this project remain under wraps, it highlights Lucasfilm’s ongoing commitment to expanding the Star Wars narrative through various interconnected stories.
The production of Star Wars: Episode X – A New Beginning marks an exciting chapter in the Star Wars saga, offering unparalleled opportunities for industry professionals to contribute to a legacy that has captivated audiences for decades. As the film progresses towards its release, it promises to deliver a fresh and engaging experience while respecting the storied history of the franchise. Stay tuned for further announcements and prepare to embark on a journey into the next phase of the Star Wars universe.
It is important to keep in mind, this information (outside of Daisy Ridley returning) has not been confirmed by Lucasfilm and should be taken with a grain of salt until confirmed by the studio.
